It feels like coming home. Over 150 years after Squire Van Swinderen had a tavern built in Hemelum, the building still offers a warm welcome.

The delightful three-course breakfast, unlimited coffee and tea and a drink upon arrival make your stay a celebration. Also, experience the comfortable luxury of our guest rooms with en-suite bathrooms, wifi, and TV. The evening meal is prepared upon request in our lounge with a fireplace, or on beautiful days in the garden.

The B&B is located near the Morra, one of the many Frisian lakes, and the forests and cliffs of Gaasterland. Nearby are cycling and walking paths, IJsselmeer beaches, bird-watching hides, golf courses, and picturesque towns like Hindeloopen, Stavoren, Oudemirdum, and Balk.

ABOUT US

Your hosts are Henri and Lidie Maré. Born and raised in South Africa, they hold hospitality in high regard. During their travels, they gained a wealth of experience, which they will use to pamper you.

They build on the breakfast tradition started by the previous owners, Peter and Ans, while also putting their own twist on it. The three-course breakfasts are always freshly prepared, with plenty of fruit and regional products.
